Wayan Anggriani (Anggie)

Introducing……. 55 FACES woman #90
Wayan Anggriani (Anggie)
43 years old
From: West Bali
Lives: Lovina (North Bali) since 2005
This is who I am in the world:
I’m just an ordinary, simple and conversative woman. But most of my friends say that I am an ordinary woman doing extraordinary things.
I am the Founder of Rice for Bali, which is a charity organisation that I started on the 21st of April 2020. It was a personal challenge as the pandemic began to get rice to feed my local community, through posting on social media for my birthday. I asked that anyone who wanted to send me a card or flowers for my birthday, instead sent those funds so that I could get rice to share with people here in Bali.
I began three weeks before my birthday with a goal to get one tonne of rice. Four days before my birthday I had received 1.8 tonnes of rice. People have continued donating and last year I again celebrated my birthday in the same way. I invited my friends on...

Ni Gusti Paramiti

Introducing……. 55 FACES woman #89
Ni Gusti Paramiti, also known as Ibu Gusti Unik
Born in Bali and living in Bali
47 years old
This is who I am in the world….
I am curious. I studied economics in Surabaya in 1990, following my childhood dream of being an entrepreneur lady. I started out working with my father in his fabric company and 100 other men. I didn’t want to be a worker, I wanted to be a creator. People said to me “how will you make money and make a change if you are not a worker?”.
I had a company in Bali and we went through the 1998 economic crash, the collapse of tourism, money and jobs in 1998, 2002 and 20004. When the Bali bombs hit, all of my friends said goodbye to Bali. Our export buyers said “no more” as it became too expensive. My business fell down, at the same time as my marriage. My daughter was six months old and I wanted to finish my life and carry her from above.
A friend told me to cry on her...

This is who I am in the world….
I’m a singer and I love arts. My family is based on arts, with my dad being a painter. I have been singing since I was six years old and I now sing jazz and soul music professionally. Arts are my escape, including painting and drawing, but singing is my favourite. I have sung since I was little and my parents are very supportive and open minded in letting me choose my own steps and path. I’m very blessed to pursue this path.
I am also the Founder of the non-profit school, Kampoeng English Indonesia. I founded it with my dad in 2016 in Bali as a way to embrace local people. I feel very blessed to know Balinese people and many are not privileged to know English and to access education. I began the school at my house with 30 students, with the original idea being to create seeds of the future for four to twelve year olds and to equip them for a better...

2. I want to tell every girl/woman that....
You don’t have to be scared of being WHO YOU ARE. You should listen to your own opinions about yourself first.
3. When I’m older, I would love to......
Empower women to be themselves. Play soccer for the
Matildas and live my truth. I love playing sports, I love being fast and strong.

1. This is who I am……
I am Hannah-Jade Keppler. I’m a 16 year old girl from Perth, Western Australia and I am an actor, composer, singer-songwriter, author, director and music artist. I love telling stories in any way possible, whether it is writing a book, a song, a play or a film. I create worlds and characters for other people to understand and find comfort in themselves.
2. What is something I want to tell other women……
I want to tell every woman that they are unstoppable and powerful and can do anything they put their mind to no matter their age, ethnicity or sexuality. In my life I have suffered manipulation and emotional bullying, but I finally found the strength to say, “enough”, and stood up for myself and so can you. Don’t let anyone make you feel small and powerless. This is your life and no one has the right to make...

1. This is who I am….
A young woman with a love of music who has just entered the adult world and is beginning out in a career in opera singing. I have been through a lot. I used to think it was a weakness, but I have learnt how to wield my pain and it has just made me stronger. I love singing, dancing, writing, anything creative really, and I love inspiring and teaching others about the creative arts. I'm also a massive nerd who spends too much time reading books and not enough time on homework.
2. The story that I next want to write for women is….
I want to tell every woman that they are powerful, beautiful and strong. Your trauma is beautiful and is part of who you are. You don't need to hide it or be embarrassed of it. Wield it as a weapon, it makes you powerful, not weak. No matter how many people tell you otherwise, you don't need to be anything other than yourself and if people can't deal with that,...

This is who I am in the world….
I am still finding out who I am and what I am doing on this planet in my meditation!
I am the woman who is very lucky right now. I question how I have gotten in this position in this life right now. I feel so so happy. I came from a very tough and very difficult journey. To be here right now, I feel like a real human being.
I was born in a very poor family in a very poor village with seven siblings. My parents were rice farmers in the North of Bali where it is very dry with no water and difficult to receive benefits from the field. My mum had to go to another village to work in a coffee plantation for a very small salary so she could buy food for all of us.
I could only go up to Year 6 at school as my parents couldn’t pay for me to stay, even though I wanted a good education. I would go out to find a job and see my friends going to school with nice shoes....

Novia Ayu

Novia Ayu
years old from Jambi, living in Bali.
I am a yoga and meditation teacher, but most importantly I am a student of life. I obtain the knowledge I share from my life experiences, the people around me, and the wisdom of my Vipassana teachers. So I am simply a messenger.
I was born in a small town in Sumatra with a unique upbringing. My parents came from different racial, regional, and religious backgrounds. With my Father being Buddhist, my Mother being Muslim, and going to a Christian school myself, I was blessed with the awareness and teachings of different religions growing up. I have always wanted to explore beyond my small town to see ‘the world’. At just 13 years old I left home to pursue a better education in Jakarta, and started traveling foreign countries on my own since I was 16 years old.
I moved to Germany at 18, and then to England at 23, and was fascinated by the diversity of different languages, cultures, and religions. This has opened...
